Your child
has been
invited

Kelas Sekejap is a Malaysian web app that helps students speak English with more confidence. Your child's teacher has invited them to use it free for 3 weeks and tell us what they think.

100% free 10–15 min a day Just practice
01

What your child will do

  • Speak English in the app for about 10–15 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week, on their own phone. There is nothing to install. The app listens and gives them feedback.
  • One short speaking activity at the start, and one at the end (about 5 minutes each). This is your child's own progress check — it shows them how far they have come in 3 weeks. The recording stays private between your child and our team.
  • A short check-in each week — 5 questions.
  • Help whenever they need it. Every student can email us at rebekah@kelassekejap.com if anything goes wrong. We answer in English, Bahasa Melayu and 中文.

What your child will learn

Every day follows the shape of the SPM English speaking and listening papers — the same kinds of tasks, written at your child's own form level.

Speaking

  • Answer questions. Short questions, and your child gives a reason for their answer.
  • Talk about a topic. A short time to think, then they speak on their own.
  • Discuss together. A back-and-forth, so your child has to reply, not recite.

Listening

  • Quick Listen. Short clips — choose what they heard.
  • Deep Listen. One longer talk, a few questions.
  • Match the Speaker. A few speakers, and match each one to a statement.
  • Catch & Write. Fill in the missing words, one word each.

A day looks like this:

  • Speaking ×3Short questions, a short talk on a topic, then a discussion with Roly — the guide inside the app
  • Listening ×4One short activity of each listening type above
  • PhrasesA few useful phrases for that day's topic, with examples
  • 10–15 minutesYour child can stop after any activity and come back later

Every form has its own version. A Form 1 student and a Form 5 student do the same kind of task on the same day, but the lower forms get simpler sentences and more time to prepare. Your child only sees the version for their form.

In these 3 weeks your child covers days 1 to 21 of the 30-day course. Each day has one speaking theme and one listening skill, and every sixth day is a review day with no new material.

This is practice, not a school syllabus. The programme covers speaking and listening only — no reading, writing or grammar exercises. It sits alongside school English, not in place of it.

What we need from you

1

Give your consent — please do this by Monday 17 August. It is a short form at the bottom of this page: about 2 minutes on your phone, nothing to print or sign. Go to the form →

2

On Sunday evening, 16 August, remind your child to check their email — including the spam folder. We send them a sign-up link and a short speaking activity to do that evening. It takes about 10 minutes in total. A quiet spot at home is best. Earphones help, but are not needed.

04

Key dates

  • Sun 16 Aug, eveningYour child signs up and does the first speaking activity
  • Mon 17 AugDay 1 — daily practice begins
  • Every weekA short 5-question check-in

Students who complete the programme are invited to more Kelas Sekejap activities and events, and there are prizes for the top performers.
05

What it costs

Nothing. All 3 weeks are completely free, and we do not ask for any payment details.

After the programme ends, if your child wants to keep using Kelas Sekejap, you can subscribe at RM15 a month for the first 3 months (half the normal RM30 a month). This is completely optional. We mention it once, at the end. Nothing is charged automatically, and there is no obligation to continue.

06

Your child's privacy

  • We collect your child's name, form and school, and the app records their voice while they practise and during the two short speaking activities.
  • We use the recordings and app usage to measure improvement and improve the app. Nothing else.
  • All data is kept private and secure, in line with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
  • We do not share it with the school, and it does not affect school grades.
  • You can withdraw your child at any time — just email us, and we delete their data.
One optional tick box. The consent form below asks whether we may play a short before-and-after audio clip of your child speaking to our partners and investors, to show what the programme achieved. Your child's full name is never shared. This is optional — your child can join without ticking it, and we will never ask again.

Common questions

Does my child need a laptop?

No. Any phone with internet and a web browser works. There is nothing to download or install.

Does it use a lot of mobile data?

The app records short answers and sends them to us, so home wifi is best where you have it.

What if my child misses a day?

That is fine. To complete the programme they need to practise on at least 15 of the 21 days, so there is room to miss a few.

My child is shy about speaking English. Is this right for them?

Yes — this is exactly who the programme is for. Your child speaks to the app alone, not in front of a class, and no classmate or teacher hears the recordings.

Will this affect my child's school results?

The programme sits completely apart from school. Everything your child does here is practice, their progress belongs to them, and we keep it private from the school.

Can I have this on paper instead?

Yes. The consent form on this page is the quickest way, but there is a download link at the bottom of it — print the letter, sign it, and email a photo to rebekah@kelassekejap.com. Either way counts.

Who is running this?

Kelas Sekejap, a Malaysian team building English learning tools for high school students. We are launching for everyone in September, and this small group of students gets to try it first and tell us what to fix.

Any questions?

Email Rebekah at Kelas Sekejap — in English, Bahasa Melayu or 中文. We answer every parent question, however small.
